Rental Terms & Conditions

Last updated: July 4, 2026

These terms apply to all bookings made through Goja (gojatravel.com). By completing a booking, you agree to these terms.

1. About Goja

Goja is an online marketplace that connects travellers with independent vehicle rental shops in Phuket, Thailand. Goja is not a vehicle owner or rental company and does not own, operate, or maintain any of the vehicles listed.

The actual rental agreement is formed directly between you (the renter) and the partner shop that provides the vehicle. Goja facilitates the booking, payment, and communication but is not a party to that rental contract.

2. Booking Requirements

  • You must be at least 18 years old to book and to rent a vehicle.
  • You must hold a valid driving licence that covers the vehicle class you are renting. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is strongly recommended for foreign visitors and is required by Thai law to legally ride most motorbikes and drive cars.
  • All information you provide (name, contact details, nationality, licence details) must be true, accurate, and your own.

3. Payment

Depending on the payment method you choose at checkout, you pay either the full rental amount (PromptPay) or a deposit (card) online, with any balance paid in cash at the shop. Full details of how payment and refunds work are in our Cancellation & Refund Policy.

4. Your Responsibilities During the Rental

  • You are responsible for the vehicle throughout the rental period, including safe and lawful operation, fuel, parking, and any traffic fines incurred.
  • You must return the vehicle in the same condition it was provided, allowing for normal wear and tear.
  • Damage beyond normal wear and tear, loss, or theft may be charged by the shop and is typically deducted from the security deposit you leave with the shop (cash or passport). Any dispute over damage charges is between you and the shop, though Goja can help mediate (see Section 7).

5. Driving Licence & Thai Law

Riding or driving in Thailand without a licence valid for the vehicle class is illegal. In the event of an accident, driving without a valid licence may also void any insurance coverage and leave you personally liable for all costs.

Goja strongly recommends carrying a valid IDP together with your home-country licence. Goja facilitates bookings and does not verify or guarantee that any renter holds a valid licence — that responsibility rests with you and, at pick-up, with the shop.

6. Insurance

Goja does not sell, provide, or underwrite insurance. Any insurance or damage-waiver coverage (if offered) is arranged by the individual shop or a separate insurance provider, with its own terms, limits, and exclusions. You should confirm exactly what is and isn't covered directly with the shop before you ride.

7. Limitation of Goja's Liability

Goja acts solely as a booking intermediary between renters and partner shops. To the extent permitted by law, Goja is not liable for accidents, injuries, vehicle defects, loss or damage to property, or any disputes arising directly between renters and shops. The rental and the vehicle's condition are the responsibility of the shop. Where a dispute arises, Goja will make reasonable efforts to help mediate between you and the shop.

8. Cancellation

Cancellations and the refunds you may be entitled to are governed by our Cancellation & Refund Policy.

9. Changes to These Terms

Goja may update these terms from time to time. Changes will not affect bookings already confirmed at the time of the change.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand.
